How do I create a menu of newsletters for my readers to choose from?

Dear Emma,

Someone on staff here recently suggested that instead of sending a variety of emails to everybody each month, that we let people choose for themselves which ones they want to receive. To seem smart and worldly, I said, quite casually, "Wonderful idea. I'll make it happen." Why do I say things like that? Anyway, now I need to make it happen and I have no idea how.

Sincerely,
Smart Guy in California

Dear Smart Guy,

First off, giving your subscribers more control over the type - and frequency - of emails they receive from you is a fantastic idea.

You can decide on a menu of email newsletters by creating those as groups in your audience section. Then, head to your signup screens page and simply decide, for each signup screen you create, which groups should show up there. So for your project there are two easy steps: to create your audience groups (if you haven't already), and to set those groups to display on your signup screen. An optional step three would be to reserve the board room for a 30-minute presentation outlining your newsletter-menu-creation prowess. Will lunch be provided?

So stand tall, Smart Guy, and know that your reputation as The Guy Who Makes Things Happen remains as solid as ever.

Cheers,
Emma
