Importing people from Salesforce

You can import any number of audience members from a Salesforce campaign right within your account, provided you have a Salesforce Enterprise or Unlimited account, or a Salesforce Pro account with the API module installed.

How to import members from Salesforce.com to your audience:

  1. From anywhere in audience, click Import. It's up top. From the import screen, click Create a new import. After reading the permissions reminder, click yes to continue and then click to Upload a resource from your Salesforce account. If this is your first Salesforce import, follow the prompts to log in to your Salesforce account. You'll need a username, password, and security key. The import screen will store your Salesforce login for future imports.
  2. Select the Salesforce campaign you'd like to import.
  3. Select whether you'd like to import your contacts or your leads from your campaign.
  4. Map your fields by following the directions on the import screen, or click Guess to let the import screen try to make the matches for you.
  5. Choose your import style. Select Add only, and we'll simply add the new email addresses in your campaign. Select Add & update, and we'll update every member record to match what's in your campaigns. (Use add & update in cases where you want more information - like company names - to be added to existing member records.)
  6. Create a new group for your import, or select an existing group in your audience. Click Continue. Once you've reviewed your import summary, click Import to start the process.

Import speed will depend on the size of your Salesforce campaign, as well as how large your existing audience is, since imports check every new record against every existing record. It all happens pretty fast, but you can refresh your browser window to wait for the icon on the left to change from a clock (in progress) to a green checkmark (success).
