Creating jump links in your newsletter

You can create jump links in your campaign - also called bookmarks or anchor links - which, when clicked, jump the reader down to an item somewhere else in the same email. This is particularly helpful in creating newsletter-style headlines at the top that link down to longer paragraphs or stories below.

How to create jump links:

  1. Start by placing the 'bookmarks' in the spots to which you'll be linking your headlines. Place your cursor where the first bookmark should be, and click the anchor icon in the editor's toolbar.
  2. Give your bookmark a simple, one-word name, and you'll see a small anchor appear in your content. (If you must choose a mutliple-word name, make sure there are *no spaces* between the words.) And don't worry, the anchor won't be visible when you preview or send your mailing.
  3. Repeat for the other spots to which you plan to link from above.
  4. Now go back up and highlight your first headline. Click the link button in the toolbar and choose the Bookmark tab. The bookmarks you've already created will appear in a menu, and you'll simply choose the appropriate one. Repeat for the other headlines.
  5. Test your links in preview mode, and be sure to send yourself a test email and check the links in your inbox as well.

My links aren't working! If you've made formatting changes to your text or pasted it in from another source, it's possible that some code buildup is keeping the link from sticking. Try highlighting the link text, and unformatting it using the white eraser in the toolbar. You can also try cutting and pasting it into a plaintext editor, and then pasting it back into your text box. Then you can reset the font style, color, and then relink to the bookmark.
